What is Do Something Near You?
Do Something Near You is Australia's definitive community directory and volunteer portal. The website provides vital links between charities, councils and communities.
The aim of the project is to encourage and assist members of the public and the business community to invest their time and resources in local not-for-profit organisations, to the benefit of all Australians.
Who is Do Something?
We are a new type of not-for-profit organisation that brings together the resources of the business community and the goodwill of the Australian public. We work to create and promote positive social and environmental change.
Rather than talk about the problems, we seek to "do something" by building alliances between councils, businesses, government and the community. We identify problems and then find answers that achieve measurable benefits for the environment, community and Australian business.
Do Something was established by Planet Ark founders Jon Dee and Pat Cash, and Tina Jackson, former Executive Director of the National Trust of Australia.
We campaign on a number of environmental and social issues - sometimes on our own, but more often in partnership with others. Some of our latest campaigns include: The National Calendar, The 10% Challenge and FoodWise. For more information about our campaigns visit dosomething.net.au.
ALDI Australia is a proud supporter of Do Something Near You.
Since opening its doors in Australia in 2001, ALDI now has more than 200 stores successfully operating across New South Wales, ACT, Queensland and Victoria.
The ALDI name is synonymous with high quality and exceptional value. Their goal is simple: "to provide customers with the products they buy regularly and ensure that those products are of the highest possible quality at guaranteed low prices".
