Jerrabomberra ACT Rural Fire Service Brigade

The ACT Rural Fire Service is responsible for protecting life, property and the environment from all bush and grass fires that occur within the country areas, outside the ACT suburbs. They also play a pivotal role in assisting the ACT Fire Brigade to fight bush and grass fires inside the suburbs and city areas. They also engage with the community to improve bushfire awareness & preparation.

Getting Involved

ACTRFS volunteers primarily assist with the suppression of bush and grassfires in the ACT's rural and remote areas. The ACT's declared fire season is from the 1st of October through to the last day of March each year and this is the period of most activity for our volunteer bushfire fighters. There are, however, many instances of being required for bushfire fighting duties outside of this period and all of our volunteers need to be aware of this.

The first step is to get in touch online through their website to register your interest, whereby you will then be contacted by a Recruitment and Retention Officer (RRO) who will continue the registration process. Full training is given and required to become a volunteer fire fighter.
