Lord Howe Island Marine Park

Lord Howe Island Marine Park is home to the most southern coral reef ecosystem. NSW marine parks protect the states oceans and marine life, conserve biodiversity, maintain valuable ecosystems and support sustainable uses of the marine environment. In 1999, Lord Howe Island Marine Park was declared the third marine park established in NSW.

Getting Involved

Many volunteers have assisted with projects in the marine park. For example, local dive operators have participated in Reef Life Survey activities in the marine park and glassbottom boat operators are monitoring the abundance of McCullochs anemone fish as an indicator of climate change. Please contact us for further details on how to get involved.
