AWARE Wildlife Rescue
Volunteering for AWARE (Australian Wildlife Assistance Rescue and Education) will help us to rescue wildlife, care for them, and release them back into their natural habitat. Few other conservation activities have such a direct and personal relationship with Australia's unique native animals, and every single volunteer makes a real difference.
Getting Involved
There are many different roles, but if you want to work hands-on with native animals, you will need to be at least 18 years old, or have an adult supervisor. You may wish to be involved with one, or several of the available activities, including:
Staffing the rescue "hotline";
Rescuing and / or transporting animals;
Raising orphaned birds and animals so that they can be released;
Providing care and rehabilitation for injured animals;
Raising funds;
Training new volunteers; Education and publicity;
Administration (for example, treasury, secretarial duties).
AWARE provides the necessary training to ensure you can rescue wildlife safely and effectively.
