Wildlife Queensland (Upper Dawson)
Wildlife Queensland is keen to ensure that through our actions, we can encourage everyone to gain an appreciation of wildlife and its habitat, leading to a greater understanding of the challenges and pressures it increasingly faces. We focus on Protecting Wildlife, Influencing Choices and Engaging Communities
Getting Involved
Our Branch usually has four meetings a year, the Activities Officer arranging the venue with property owners or National Parks. While wet weather curtails more widespread travel in La Nina years, our trips have taken us to Central Queensland’s National Parks, sandstone gorges, gasfields, coal mines, boggomosses, wetlands and forests.
Some of our members have written nature notes for local publications, and enjoy bird-watching and plant identification. We like to support the local wildlife carer in the rescue and recovery of injured or displaced animals including echidnas, lizards and gliders.
Photographers, artists or camping and wildlife enthusiasts are always welcome to come and learn with us about this wonderful natural world in which we live.
