Wildlife Queensland is keen to ensure that through our actions, we can encourage everyone to gain an appreciation of wildlife and its habitat, leading to a greater understanding of the challenges and pressures it increasingly faces. We focus on Protecting Wildlife, Influencing Choices and Engaging Communities

Getting Involved

The Townsville Branch, established in 1968, has a history of involvement in urban and regional environmental issues and education. Locally, the Branch has an interest in the management of the Town Common, Magnetic Island and nearby national parks as well as issues of urban and industrial expansion. Further afield the Branch has a strong interest in the protection of coastal woodlands and rainforest, the protection of Hinchinbrook Island and Channel, and broader coastal and land management issues. It is an advocate for the conservation of threatened species such as the dugong, snubfin dolphin, mahogany glider and cassowary.
