Burra Mine Site - National Trust Property

This National Trust listed site protects natural heritage and mining heritage and is a record of the original vegetation of the mid-north. More than 120 species of native plants, 37 which are listed as rare or endangered, are protected here. The hills conserve native grasslands while the site has several buildings and structures used when the "Monster Mine", a working copper mine was active.

Getting Involved

The National Trust estimates that it has over 1,000 volunteers in South Australia. Volunteers come from all walks of life - school students, Mums and Dads at home, retired professionals and the like. In the last financial year they contributed around 125,000 hours (worth $2.5 million) to conserving South Australian heritage and undertook a wide variety of roles within the National Trust of South Australia. If you are interested in joining our team, please contact the National Trust SA Office on (08) 8202 9200 or via the website.
