Moonta Mines Sweet Shop - National Trust Property
The shop was once a post office and was erected in 1946 and closed in 1976. At the time of closing it was said to be the smallest post office in South Australia. The old post office is now a sweet shop stocking old fashioned drinks, sweets and ice creams. It is listed as a protected property by the National Trust of South Australia.
Getting Involved
The National Trust estimates that it has over 1,000 volunteers in South Australia. Volunteers come from all walks of life - school students, Mums and Dads at home, retired professionals and the like. In the last financial year they contributed around 125,000 hours (worth $2.5 million) to conserving South Australian heritage and undertook a wide variety of roles within the National Trust of South Australia.
