Arid Recovery

Arid Recovery is an ecosystem restoration initiative based in the South Australian outback and dedicated to the restoration of Australia’s arid lands. Established in 1997, the program is centred around a 123km² fenced reserve, half of which has had feral cats, foxes and rabbits removed. Into this area threatened species such as Burrowing Bettongs and Greater Bilbies have been reintroduced.

Getting Involved

No-one can put a price on the invaluable contribution our members and volunteers have made towards Arid Recovery since its inception.

Friends members have assisted with tasks as extensive as constructing the perimeter fence to as humble as folding mail-outs, but each task has contributed greatly to the overall success and on-going work of Arid Recovery. Our current members assist with feral control, monitoring of reintroduced species and publicity and tourism events.

To join as a friend of Arid Recovery and receive newsletters, e-news updates and invitations to events at the Reserve, please visit our website, or contact the office to discuss other options.
