YMCA WA YMentoring

YMCA WA helps children and young people grow in body, mind and spirit. YMCA WA's YMentoring program is a community-based support program that matches adult volunteer mentors on a one-to-one basis with a young person in need of additional adult support.

Getting Involved

YMentoring is always recruiting for volunteer mentors to match with young people. In the program, a volunteer mentor and young person meet 3 to 4 times per month for a minimum of 2-3 hours per outing. Both the mentor and the mentee commit to the program for 12 months.

Mentors and mentees meet on their own time schedule in a venue of their choice, many do activities like going on a picnic, kicking a footy around, watching movies, going to the beach, listening to music etc. We encourage mentors and mentees to do every day free/low cost activities.

We require our mentors to set objectives to gain and achieve the best positive outcomes for the mentee.

After submitting an application form, all volunteers undergo a thorough screening process before being matched to a young person.
