Youth Mentor for 15 y.o. Boy with Disability (Autism)

YMentoring is a community based support program for young people, operated by YMCA WA. We match volunteers with young people to form one-to-one relationships that take place for 2-3 hours per week. Volunteers spend time with young people in the community over a 12 month period

Getting Involved

YMentoring is looking for a volunteer to support Matt, a 15 year-old boy living in the northern suburbs who would benefit from a patient and supportive mentor to help him increase his engagement in social and community activities, develop his life-skills and confidence. Matt is a smart and articulate boy who needs some gentle encouragement to enjoy life. Matt has high-functioning Autism with Dyspraxia; he is a smart and articulate boy who would benefit from some gentle support to help him engage more with his community. He enjoys playing computer games and reading books and is also fascinated by turtles.

After submitting an application form, all volunteers undergo a thorough screening process before being matched to a young person.
