Mentor for 16 y.o. Boy with Anxiety

YMentoring is a community based support program for young people, operated by YMCA WA. We match volunteers with young people to form one-to-one relationships that take place for 2-3 hours per week. Volunteers spend time with young people in the community over a 12 month period

Getting Involved

We are seeking a volunteer living in the Northern Suburbs to hang out with Pete. Pete is a 16 year old boy with a great sense of humour, who always gets up in the morning with a smile and enjoys attending school. Pete would like to try new activities in the community but becomes anxious and stressed, which causes him to struggle with change and new experiences. One of Pete's goals is to learn how to use public transport to boost his independence, but anxiety and self-confidence is holding him back from achieving this and many of his other goals. Pete enjoys bike riding and photography, and some encouragement and support from a patient and understanding mentor would really help him more confidently participate in these activities and further engage with his community.
