Society for the Preservation of Raptors

The Society rescues and rehabilitates Raptors. Birds of prey and owls have specialised housing, dietary and rehabilitation needs, so they have dedicated facilities and specialist volunteers to look after them. These volunteers work to rehabilitate them back to the wild and educate the community about issues such as habitat loss, and awareness of our diverse and precious wildlife.

Getting Involved

A hands-on raptor rehabilitator needs to be dedicated, observant, able to follow instructions and be willing to learn. Our volunteers need a good level of physical fitness for carrying out rescue work, sound reflexes, dexterity for carrying out treatments and the ability to understand and follow the directions provided by veterinarians for on-going care.
We have a range of volunteer activities to suit most people. You may wish to be involved with one or more different types of activities, including:

· Rescuing and / or transporting raptors

· Providing care and rehabilitation for sick, injured and orphaned raptors

· Fund raising and administration

· Public relations and community awareness campaigns

· Community education programmes
