Community Visitors Scheme Southern Tasmania (62 phone area)

Australian Red Cross is a leading humanitarian organisation in Australia, improving the lives of vulnerable people through services delivered and promotion of humanitarian laws and values. The Community Visitors Scheme (a Federal Government initiative) is one such service. A Community Visitor enriches the life of a resident in aged care who is lonely and has few or no regular visitors.

Getting Involved

Community Visitors provide companionship to lonely residents living in aged care facilities on a one to one basis at least every two weeks. You will be matched with a resident of an aged care facility based on interests, hobbies, and background and life experiences. Training and support are provided throughout your volunteering experience. If you would like more information please phone and leave a message or email to register your interest and we will get back to as soon as possible.
