Penghana 1898 - National Trust Property

An impressive house and grounds dramatically sited overlooking Queenstown. Penghana was the home of the first mine manager of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company who developed the company into the largest early 20th C industrial enterprise in Tasmania. This splendid Federation style house has been home to 13 more mine managers subsequently and is now used for accommodation and dining.

Getting Involved

Become a National Trust volunteer and spend time at our marvelous Tasmanian Trust properties. Meet and make new friends through volunteering as house guides, helping in the gardens or selling in the shops. To become a volunteer please contact a National Trust property in your immediate area or alternatively contact us for further information.
