Kiss of Life: Fall in love with your local community this Valentine’s Day

Why do people love to volunteer? It could be because it’s a great way to gain new skills and give back to their local community. Volunteering can also lead to meeting new people and making new connections.

There are many ways to meet a mate without going to a bar. Volunteering is one. Finding a cause that you’re passionate about is a great way to find someone that shares similar values.

Having something in common with your mate-to-be can give you a great starting point, especially from a young age. With 16,000 volunteers, 38% of St John members are under 26 years-old*.

St John volunteers not only lend a hand but have also opened their hearts to finding love. The Assistant Commissioner of NSW, Didier Mountia met his wife through volunteering with St John Ambulance. They now have three children that are also St John volunteers.

Volunteering can be a great way to expand your social circle and make new connections. To get engaged with your community, go to DoSomethingNearYou.com.au. Simply type in your postcode or suburb to find out how you can volunteer and give back in your local community.
